Three years ago I joined Twitter - out of curiosity more than anything after seeing it praised on several teachers' blogs.
Two years ago I started blogging my ICT lesson ideas and display resources on my very own blog - www.simonhaughton.co.uk.
One year ago I began to realise how teachers from across the world were being inspired by my shared ICT expertise.
Last week I was shortlisted for NAACE's ICT Impact Award for Primary.
I do feel slightly awkward asking this as I am normally quite modest about what I do, however I really need your help now - I have to create a short three-minute video to persuade the judges that I deserve to be given this recognition for all my hard work and would really appreciate any contributions you would like to make towards it.
How useful have you found the advice on my blog?
How have your children used my resources/websites in your classroom?
How much of an impact have I had on teaching and learning in your school?
Ideally, I would really love a mini video/audio clip explaining the impact I have had on you/your children (even if it's just one word - that would be fabulous) but I would obviously welcome any text comments/photographs too.
You can email me your contributions at:
simonhaughton@ymail.com
All being well, I will hopefully be able mix all these together to produce a something very special and would be proud to share it with you on this blog when it's completed.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and being prepared to have a go!
Simon Haughton.
I'm not a teacher so I can't answer Simon's questions directly.
Having said that, I think Naace should consider themselves to be doing very well if they were shortlisted for a Simon Haughton Award.

If I need ICT advice, ideas or inspiration, I turn straight to Simon's blog. I use his history website with the children at school and it never fails to amaze me how he pitches his plans and activities at exactly the right level. Simon is a complete inspiration and I know that my practice has improved as a result of his hard work.

I work in a cross phase school and am often called on to offer advice to colleagues in our primary section. My experience is drawn predominantly from the secondary sector, so when I need advice and inspiration to pass on to my primary colleagues, Simon's sites and resources are my first port of call. I know I can rely on his wisdom, expertise and prolific output, safe in the knowledge that whatever I find will have been tried, tested and thoroughly reviewed. A trusted colleague indeed.

Simon's Blog, website and resources are second to none. When I need inspiration I always take a peek of what he's been doing and either copy or adapt for my own class. I've recommended his spreadsheet plans and resources only recently to a student teacher who was struggling with his ideas.

Inspirational and generous, Simon Haughton shares advice and resources with virtual strangers, yet does so freely, I have recommended many of his ideas to my colleagues and we have links to his Infant Encyclopaedia and Junior ICT Companion from our Learning Platform for our children to easily access. As a new ICT Coordinator I find his Blog and his resources invaluable. Thank you so much Simon.

All I can say is, I am so glad I found Simon's blog by accident, three months ago.
I am now using his history website and Infant encyclopedia, as well as his resources.
I find myself looking forward to see what exciting ideas he's going to post next.

Simon, without your ideas, inspiration and imagination, I think I would have given up ICT long ago! Just when I started to feel down about teaching the subject I'd loved along came this site to inspire me to go forth and do what you do in my classes. Thank you!
