Our school Internet connection is through a proxy server which requires a username/password to be entered so that the correct filtering policy can be applied (and access monitored).
Over the past month or so, I've now got three apps on our iPad 2s (which run iOS6) which come up with a login screen on startup asking me to input a username and password to continue - they are: Aviary, Tiny Tap and Vintagio. Regardless of what combination I put in (which I know is correct), the login screen stays on screen and makes the app unusable.
I have discovered that fully closing the app, then turning the WiFi on the device off and then loading the app again resolves the issue - however this solution isn't really ideal when the main users of the devices are children!
My questions are therefore What is causing this problem and How can I find a better solution to it?
My gut feeling is that the apps are all trying to access the Internet when they load up (e.g. to check if an app update is available so that a pop-up can appear to tell you this) but are failing to get the proxy authentication details from the device. Sadly, when contacting the developers of the apps they are all adamant that the problem isn't their fault - is anyone else having similar problems and knows the best technical way to make the right people aware of this bug? Please!
